R.E.A.C.H. Mentorship

Reach One Teach One

REACH is Ohio Urban Renaissance’s specialized youth assessment and mentorship portion of all OUR programs targeting adolescents as they transition into early adulthood.  OUR program follows the standards of The National Mentoring Resource Center and has been designed to adapt to the individual needs of its mentees while building formal and informal mentor to mentee relationships and dialogue as well as a mentee to mentee social networking community.  All of OUR community developmental programs are structured around the five core components that comprise OUR organizations R.E.A.C.H. Model and work to connect individuals with opportunities and resources while increasing the individual’s cultural and self awareness.  R.E.A.C.H. is an acronym for the model and structure our mentoring programs follow and represents each respective segment of the programs focus within the R.E.A.C.H. Mentorship model, as well as the intrinsic meanings of the word itself.  The five components that make up the R.E.A.C.H. model are as follows: the recreational component; the educational component; the assignment component; the community component; and the health component.  R.E.A.C.H. serves as an initial assessment and informal evaluation for our mentor to mentee relationships and a checklist for program workshops and preventive services.  Our programs are designed to “REACH” or by definition “to extend out in a specified direction in order to touch or grasp something” and strive to make a difference by increasing our “REACH” or “the extent or range of application, effect, or influence” on our youth and our community.  Helping others REACH their potential means we're reaching ours.  To learn more about OUR mission, OUR vision, and how we go about making the changes we want to see contact us.
